In my last post about the Jeep I talked about finally getting the lightbar made!
Well, as of today we have the blueprints officially made and printed for the plate to be welded on top!
Hopefully I’ll have the plate welded on this week, or next. Either way, we’re getting closer and closer!

It always amazes me what goes into reproducing stuff like this. Ask the original fabricators and they’ll be like “I dunno, they said add a lightbar so we put some tubing in the bender and had a lightbar for the next shoot.” Meanwhile the fans are like “Whoa, nobody makes that. We’ll have to put the Jeep’s windshield into CAD and then send some specs over to the machine shop so they can CNC the bracket with that little notch in it and get it anodized so the color is just right...”

That’s one thing that’s always good for amusement at a nerd gathering like Dragon Con. Lots of bad cosplay out there, but also the rare crazy people whose props are a level above the real ones.

Oh trust me, it’s been a labor of love.

If I had the money I’d buy myself a heavy lift exoskeleton and use it as the base for a sudo functional Space Marine Suit.

There weren’t any WH Space Marines in the parade this year (there have been, before), but I did see one walking. Not powered exo full-bore Blood Ravens excellence, mind you, but nice.
I’ve gamed out the best construction options for a Halo Elite, myself.

I want a jeep as a trail car but would totally do that to it.

Some choose to do both haha

Since you seem to be aware of it, did you hear about the groot baby at Boston’s ComicCon?

Yeah I’ve seen pictures and they’re awesome, but being able to wield a functional chainsword would be neat.

I did not. Pretty funny.
There was a very high quality adult Groot at Dragon Con, though.

As in people destroying real Mauser broomhandle pistols in order to make the perfect Han Solo’s [replica] gun...

I went to school with groot baby’s mom. They were stunned at the attention it got. Pretty cool.

See this would totally be good enough for me: http://www.instructables.com/id/Han-Solo-Bl… but I know it’s not ‘accurate’. Yeah, like that!

I mean if I’m going to destroy the paint anyway, at least make it extra epic. Please get a can of shaving cream and leave it in the cupholder.

But of course all the YJ’s near me are crazy expensive and all of them are terrible.
